Smoked Chicken Broth

Our first product is a soup base inspired by the comforting flavors of pinikpikan. It aims for a balanced blend of smoky chicken, ginger, and savory warmth. It’s being developed to help families make a satisfying broth with less prep.

A question close to my heart

Why this product?

When I was pregnant, I craved pinikpikan so much that seeing a bowl online could make me cry. I missed that familiar smoky, ginger-rich broth, but making it from scratch wasn’t easy where I lived.

I kept seeing chicken broth on store shelves and thinking, “Why not bring a little of our Cordilleran flavor here, too?” That thought became RiShay’s first product: a smoked chicken broth base I hope will make a taste of home easier to share. 💙

The food behind our inspiration

What is pinikpikan?

Pinikpikan is a traditional chicken dish from the Igorot communities of the Philippine Cordilleras. For me, it’s the kind of warming bowl that tastes like being home with family.

Traditionally, the chicken is prepared in a distinctive way before its feathers and skin are singed over a flame until the skin releases its natural oils. It’s then simmered into a savory broth, often with ginger. The way it’s made and served can differ from one community or family to another, and its meaning goes beyond a recipe.

Our first smoked chicken broth base is being developed around the flavors of traditional pinikpikan, starting without etag. We plan a second version with etag to bring that familiar ingredient into the broth, too. Both versions are still in development.
